About the Shark Farmer
Rob and Emily Sharkey met each other at a 4-H dance when they were both 16 years old. They have been together ever since. After both graduated from Southern Illinois University, they got married and returned to the Sharkey Family Farm. Today they reside on the original homestead, that has been in the Sharkey Family since 1854. Rob and Emily have 4 children.
Today they farm on their own in Bureau County. Growing primarily corn and soybeans, Rob has implemented modern technology and conservation practices to their farm.
Rob has been involved in agriculture leadership for most his farming career. He has served as President of the Bureau County Farm Bureau and the Bureau County Pork Producers, as well as being treasure of his local co-op board. Rob is in the 2016 class of the Illinois Agriculture Leadership Foundation.
Emily is busy with homeschooling their children for the past 13 years. She has also been actively involved in Community Bible Studies, where has served as a core leader. She has also served as President of the Hosanna Home School Choir
